Proper restraints and jointing lock the units in place and keep weeds and shifting out for the long term.

Why walkways fail in the GTA
Without 8 to 12 inches of compacted crushed stone, the walkway settles as Toronto clay shifts with moisture and frost. Re-laying the surface without fixing the base just sinks again.
Standing water means the grade is sending it toward your foundation. Proper grading sheds it away — the biggest factor in how long a walkway lasts.
Without proper restraints, units spread and drift at the edges over time. We lock the perimeter so the pattern holds.
The wrong stone or interlock spalls and stains within a few winters. We specify by absorption class, not just appearance.

Both work well when specified correctly. Interlock offers more pattern and colour options at a lower cost; natural stone gives a higher-end, seamless look. What matters most is the base and drainage beneath, and choosing units rated for Canadian freeze-thaw. We recommend based on your home and budget during the assessment.
